HIH Endorsement

Cement your knowledge of History is the Hook with an HIH Endorsement--
for yourself or your school! 
Personal Endorsement
A minimum of 250 hrs of classes/events is necessary for HIH Personal Endorsement.  Every two years, 30 additional hrs are needed to maintain HIH Personal Endorsement.

 Required Classes:
  • Intro to HIH—9 hrs
  • HIH—18 hrs
  • Core Classes—90 hrs minimum (Core Classes are 30 hrs each.)
  • Complete an additional 133 hrs in LPV classes/events chosen by the individual. 

Required Reading and Writing:
  • Read and annotate at least 7 titles on the Cultural Education Reading List.
  • Write a one-page application paper on each title read.

Institutional Endorsement
All mentors:
  • Attend HIH and HIOTH workshops. (5 hrs each=10 hrs total)
  • Complete Intro to HIH and HIH Classes. (9+18 hrs=27 hrs total)
  • Complete an additional 60 hrs in LPV classes/events chosen by the mentor.

As an institution:
  • Promote and practice agency-based learning and Cultural Education.
  • Use Personal Endorsement: Required Reading and Writing assignments as In-service Training twice a year.  
  • Complete all Core Series Classes. (240 hrs total)
  • Complete additional hours based on number of mentors to secure and maintain Institutional Endorsement.
